Comprehensive Support for Children & Families in Malheur County

Treasure Valley Children’s Relief Nursery provides coordinated, trauma-informed support for children and families in Ontario, Oregon. Through therapeutic classrooms, home-based family education, and family support services, we address the unique needs of young children and their caregivers.

Our approach helps reduce family stress, strengthen relationships, and support healthy child development—creating a strong foundation for long-term well-being.

Therapeutic classrooms provide safe, nurturing environments where children build relationships, develop social-emotional skills, and experience consistent, supportive care.

Therapeutic Classrooms

Small, trauma-informed classrooms provide individualized attention through low teacher-to-child ratios (1:3 for infants and toddlers). Children experience a safe, consistent environment where they build social-emotional skills, develop healthy relationships, and grow through supportive, relationship-based care.

Home-Based Family Education & Support

Personalized support provided in the home helps strengthen parenting skills, build routines, and support healthy child development. Families receive guidance, developmental activities, resource connection, and opportunities for additional support—ensuring they feel supported and never alone.

ERDC Childcare

Through Oregon’s Employment Related Day Care (ERDC) subsidy, we provide high-quality childcare for children ages six weeks to three years. Children benefit from consistent routines, nutritious USDA-supported meals, and a therapeutic, relationship-based environment that supports healthy development beyond traditional childcare.

Therapeutic Approach Commitment (TAC)

TAC is our integrated, trauma-informed approach to supporting children and families. Through developmental screening, individualized planning, and coordinated support, TAC helps ensure each child receives consistent, responsive care across services.

Additional support may include one-on-one sessions for children with social-emotional or transition needs, with expanded access now available to families in the broader community.

 Parent Education & Support

Parents and caregivers can participate in group classes, workshops, and individualized support to learn positive parenting strategies, stress management, and child development. These opportunities help build confidence, strengthen relationships, and support stability at home.

Family Resource Pantry

Our on-site pantry provides essential items such as diapers, wipes, clothing, food, and hygiene supplies to help reduce stress and support family stability. The pantry is open to the community on Fridays, with additional access available for enrolled families to ensure consistent support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Programs & Services FAQ

  • What ages of children can enroll in your programs?

We serve children from six weeks through age five, covering the most important early childhood years. During this time, social-emotional and cognitive development are critical, and our trauma-informed approach is designed to support this growth.

Infants and toddlers may participate in therapeutic classrooms or ERDC childcare, while preschool-aged children engage in therapeutic early learning. Families are encouraged to reach out to learn which services best meet their needs.

  • Is there a cost for families to participate in these services?

No family is turned away due to an inability to pay. Many of our services—including therapeutic classrooms, home-based family education, and parent support—are provided at no cost thanks to community support and state funding.

For childcare services such as ERDC, eligibility is determined by the state of Oregon, and our staff can help guide families through the application process. We are committed to ensuring cost is never a barrier to accessing support.

  • What is the difference between the therapeutic classrooms and the ERDC childcare program?

Therapeutic classrooms are small, part-time settings focused on supporting children’s social-emotional development, especially for those experiencing higher levels of stress. With very low teacher-to-child ratios, these classrooms provide individualized attention and relationship-based support.

ERDC childcare provides full-day care for families who qualify for Oregon’s Employment Related Day Care subsidy. While both services use a trauma-informed approach, they differ in structure, schedule, and eligibility.

  • How does home-based family education and support work?

Our home-based family education and support services bring trained staff directly into families’ homes to provide parenting guidance, developmental activities, and connection to resources. This support is especially helpful for families who may not be able to access center-based services due to transportation, scheduling, or other barriers.

Through consistent, relationship-based support, families can build routines, reduce stress, and strengthen connections. Families may also access additional supports such as the resource pantry and community events.

  • Can families outside of Ontario, Oregon participate in your services?

We serve families throughout Malheur County, including communities such as Vale, Nyssa, and surrounding areas. While our primary location is in Ontario, many of our services are designed to support families across the county.

At this time, our services are limited to families residing in Oregon due to funding requirements. Families are encouraged to reach out to learn more about eligibility and available support.
