Supporting Families Through Education & Connection
Building Healthy Families (BHF) is a valued community partner located within Treasure Valley Children’s Relief Nursery in Ontario, Oregon. Together, we provide coordinated support that strengthens families through education, engagement, advocacy, and hands-on guidance.
BHF offers a range of free programs for parents, caregivers, and children that promote healthy development, early learning, and positive family relationships across Malheur County. This partnership helps ensure families have access to consistent, connected support in one place.
What We Offer
Family & Early Childhood Programs
Early Childhood Programs
- Mini Mountaineers Playgroup – Weekly outdoor adventures, games, and nature-based activities that encourage play, early learning, and social connection
- Kindermusik – Music and movement classes that support early learning, social-emotional development, and bonding for children from birth through kindergarten
- Storytime & Early Literacy Packets – Weekly library gatherings and take-home literacy kits that promote early language, pre-reading, and fine motor skills
- Food, Clothing & Diaper Pantry – In partnership with TVCRN, families can access essential items such as food, clothing, and diapers, including delivery options when available.
Parenting Support & Education
- Home-Based Family Education & Support – Personalized visits offering parenting guidance, education, and connection to community resources
- Parent Cafés – Monthly gatherings with meals, childcare, and open conversation to strengthen relationships and build supportive connections
- Parenting Classes – Programs such as Conscious Discipline, Strengthening Families, and Make Parenting a Pleasure help build confidence and positive parenting strategies
- Safe Sitter Classes – For youth ages 11–14, teaching responsibility, safety, and basic caregiving skills.
Community Engagement
Events & Parent Council
Building Healthy Families hosts regular community events and a Parent Council—bringing parents and local partners together to share ideas, plan projects, and build a supportive network for families across Malheur County.
