Vale resident Annette Mahan grew up in a blended family with five sisters and two brothers, moving to Portland for a few years, then returning to Vale where she graduated high school. Perhaps it was growing up in a large family that sent her down the educator path. Annette has spent her entire adult life working with children. With an associate’s degree in early childhood education and a para educator certification, Annette has worked for Head Start, in child care, and at a preschool as well in a school district for more than 25 years. TVCRN is lucky to have her in our therapeutic classrooms.

“I just enjoy watching children learn and experiencing those ‘light bulb’ moments with them,” she says. “I love the Relief Nursery mission to prevent child abuse and I love that this is accomplished by strengthening families.”

A fan of classic rock music, Annette is also a fan of Nora Roberts romance novels with lemon drops being one of her favorite foods. Mostly, she enjoys spending time outside of work with her family, which includes her husband of 20+ years, a daughter, and a son, as well as two dogs, a cat, and a grandpuppy.

“I enjoy camping, going on drives and watching movies on ‘family days,’” she says, noting she has discovered she also enjoys painting.
